ROD MIREAU

bio

Rod Mireau was born and raised in Saskatchewan. He moved to Toronto to attend the Ontario College of Art and Design in 1993 where he studied Painting and Drawing for four years. Rod's experiences as a youth growing up on the prairies exerted a great creative influence over his current work. Coming from a family of farmers and tradesmen, he occupied a number of diverse occupations ranging from welding, carpentry, factory work and machining; all of which have given him the skills, knowledge and inspiration to create his current body of artwork. Producing sculptures with the same technical skill and quality of his contemporaries reflects Rods appreciation and devotion to the core processes of traditional craftsmanship. His sculptures are simple in form yet display a complex working of raw materials that speak of order and structure.

Rod is currently represented in Toronto by XEXE Gallery.
